- Do you know tools / methodologies for gender mainstreaming in projects / adaptation policies and management of natural resources?
- Can you share lessons learned from their experience in mainstreaming gender into projects / programs adaptation / Adaptation-based ecosystems / ecosystem management?
In this module we are pleased to share with you the ten experiences selected in the Regional Competition: Showing Evidence around the Ecosystem-Based Adaptation: Cases in Latin America and the Caribbean. The shared evidence provides an overview of the progress in the promotion and implementation of the EbA in the region and the main lessons learned.
We invite you to explore these experiences and share yours in our discussion with a special focus on the processes of implementation and implementation of EbA projects, as well as on the development of public policies.
You can find the experiences here: http://ebacommunity.com/en/about-us/regional-contest
Discussion about how to generate evidence, seek to strengthen capacities
To support the participants in the development of their case studies of evidence
Highlight and promote tools for documenting evidence.
Enter the guidelines of the Ramsar Convention on the development of socio-economic diagnosis in wetland management plans.
Participants who have registered will be evaluated during the virtual phase by the control result reading * (60%) and participation in discussion forums and webinars (40%).%).
Are technology needs to achieve the goals of adaptation to climate change, identified in your country? Are there funds for their implementation?
What institutions lead the research and innovation in technologies for adaptation in your country? Are there funds for this? Who can access them?
What experience of legal tools to promote EBA by local governments do you know?
What EbA strategies we've seen are easier monitonear?
What are the major difficulties?
Examples that we can serve as reference
Do you know of exchanging experiences on traditional knowledge among local entities (municipalities, unions, peasant communities, indigenous peoples) EbA related practices in the framework of a "South-South relationship?
Do you know of exchange of experience in the private sector EbA related practices in the framework of a "South-South relationship? (agricultural companies, insurance companies)
Do you know EbA examples of experiences that have been integrated into policies?
What motivates a government to integrate EbA in their policies?
What opportunities exist PUBLIC FUNDING?
How to access public funding to finance measures EbA?
What are the mechanisms for this?
What components considered common between the two proposals?
What components considered private or what distinguish one from the other proposal?
What do you consider what is needed to link the two proposals?
What are the elements to consider to design, plan and manage protected areas in the context of climate change?
This module will be focused in the practical experiences already tested for the specific financing of EbA strategies and measures.
This module will be focused in the role of ecosystems for climate change mitigation.
What are extreme natural events in the cities of Latin America and the Caribbean are becoming more frequent and / or more intense?
What AbE measures known to help reduce the risk of natural disasters in cities in Latin America and the Caribbean?
What are extreme natural events in coastal marine areas are becoming more frequent and / or more intense?
What AbE measures known that will help reduce the risk of natural disasters in coastal marine ecosystems?
In the case of extreme events What EbA practices could minimize loss and damage?
Based on the climate change impact mountain areas suffer, EbA measures will be reviewed with a special emphasis in management of hydric resources, ecosystem resources, productive practices, and disaster risk reduction.
Based on the climate change impact deserts suffer, EbA measures will be reviewed with a special emphasis in management of hydric resources, ecosystem resources, productive practices, and disaster risk reduction.
Duration: 6 weeks
Dear members of EbA community of practice, Module 2 starts today with these key ideas: vulnerability and climate change impact. The question is how are ecosystem services and diversity related issues incorporated in decision-making? We know that knowledge communities working on these issues have their own definitions of vulnerability and mitigation. The objective of this module is to answer the following questions:
- What is the aggregate value of a vulnerability analysis? What are the basic components and how are they used in decision-making?
- How are ecosystem services integrated in a vulnerability analysis? The hypothesis is that ecosystem conservation increases resilience and ecosystem degradation reduces it.
As part of this module, we will have a presentation by Dr. Elma Montaña, Assistant Director at the Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research, who is an expert in vulnerability, climate change impact and EbA. The Module 2 webinar will take place on Tuesday 29th March at 11 am, Panama time.
Please join us in this webinar.
We invite you to post your comments and give examples of what you consider as EbA measures/activities/strategies. Comments on what you consider are NOT EbA measures/activities/strategies are also welcome. Post your comments until 27 March so to wrap up with conclusions and then move on to module 2.
