Module 4 Webinar on Mountain Ecosystem-based Adaptation

Maximo Liberman, a professor at several universities in Latin America and the author of numerous scientific management of natural resources in mountain areas publications. He will seek to reflect and respond to the main questions of this module. We will also have Pablo Dourojeanni, who will present the case "EbA Mountain Project" in Nor Yauyos Cochas in Peru and also some of the actions in Nepal and Uganda.
Maximo Liberman Cruz
Biologist studies at the University of Concepción, Chile and University of San Andres (UMSA), La Paz, Bolivia. Graduate ITC Enschede, Netherlands. Professor at the University of San Andrés, Bolivia; Universidad de los Andes, Merida, Venezuela; Universita di Camerino Italy; FLACAM in La Plata Argentina. Professor Emeritus of UMSA. Author of numerous scientific publications on natural resource management in Bolivia especially in the Andean region. He has published and edited books on: Sustainable Development in Mountains; Poverty and Environment in Bolivia; Desertification in Bolivia; Changes in Land Use and Biodiversity Mountain and others.
Geographer from PUCP with a degree from the University of Bergen, Norway. He has worked in mountain areas since 2003 with special emphasis on the Andes. He currently serves as scientific advisor EbA Mountain Project (UNDP-UNEP-IUCN-IM) and Amazon EbA Project (UNDP).
The following issues will be discussed:
What are the main ecosystem services provided by mountains?
What examples of measures EbA Mountain allow sustainable use of water resources?
What EbA measures related to production practices in mountain ecosystems (crops, livestock) are known?
What EbA measures exist to reduce risk in mountain ecosystems?
